Kefalonia (or Kefalonia in Greek), largest of the Ionian Islands, has many beaches. The island can also boast of being among the islands mentioned having the best beaches in Greece.
We tried to make you a selection of the most beautiful beaches of Kefalonia (Kefalonia) that we have visited. From the wild creek to the equipped beach, there is something for everyone and the choice is difficult!
Myrtos beach
This is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Kefalonia (Kefalonia)! The white cliffs that surround it give the seaside a milky blue color so characteristic. The view from the road towards Asos is just magnificent!
In practice
Myrtos beach is a very large pebble beachthere is a part laid out in the middle of the beach at the bar level with deckchairs and parasols.
Arrive before 10 a.m. to benefit from the saving shade of the parasols, in fact, you will not find any shade on this beach. Be careful with children the sea is quickly deep and prone to waves.
Makris Gialos Beach
Another very beautiful beach in Kefalonia (Kefalonia)! Makris Gialos is a superb sandy beach, the water is translucent blue, a real open-air swimming pool! Even with water up to the shoulders, we can see the fish swimming near our feet… You will find it around Argostoli.

In practice
Makris Gialos has a car park nearby, under the pines with enough places in the shade. Very large, the beach is occupied almost entirely by deckchairs from the bars that have laid out the beach (€15 to €25 for 2 deckchairs and parasol for 2 people in 2022), but it is still possible to find a place to put your towel.
This beach is perfect for families because you can go very far and still have your feet. There is also a shower available near the Coco beach bar.
Kimilia Beach
This small wild beach is one of my favorites ! This is a very pretty pebble beach, a small cove framed by rocks with calm, translucent blue water. It is located near Fiskardo.

In practice
The road is easy to access to the parking lot. Then you have to go down walk for about 10 minutes in a pine forest, semi-shaded route (the return will be uphill, however).
You will easily findshadow at the foot of the rocks on the sides or under the pines a little higher. It is also the ideal place for snorkeling.
Antisamos beach
Another pretty beach, perfect after visiting the ancient Akropoli of Same in the Sami area. It’s a large pebble beach, the sea there is also a very clear blue. You don’t even need a mask to see the fish!

In practice
This beach is partly equipped with two beach bars and a tavern (€10 for 2 deckchairs and 1 parasol in 2022). The large car parks next to the cafes are free to access. At the end of the beach you will find a nautical activity center (water skiing, wakeboarding, paddle, kayak, pedal boat, etc.). Very practical, there is also the possibility of showering on site. The beach also has a free part at the end with even a changing room.
Beware, however, of big drop since quickly, you will no longer have feet. The sea can also be rough, take note for wave lovers!
And many other very beautiful beaches
Several other beaches are also worth a visit, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to try them all! Here are the ones I had spotted and wanted to do:
Petani Beach
A pretty pebble beach, very crystalline water at the foot of the green hills, deckchairs and parasols on the developed part but also a wild part… And a little extra, taverns and cafes nearby. I was also recommended the Erasmus Tavernlocated just after the car park, a tavern with a sea view, very good dishes, and at a reasonable price.
Xi Beach
An original beach in Kefalonia! Indeed, Xi beach is a sandy beach but ocher colored sand ! Surrounded by clay cliffs light grey, this equipped beach offers everything you need with its bars and restaurants nearby. Ideal for families, the slope to access the sea is quite gentle. And if you want to have baby skin, you can (or not) coat your body with clay for a clay mask and scrub free !
Dafnoudi Beach
Another little pebble beach, wild and close to Fiskardo. To get there, once your car is parked, take the paved path that goes down to the beach (about 10 mins walk).
Fteri beach
A beautiful beachunequipped and accessible only on foot (45 mins to 1 hour walk following the green and red dots, moderately difficult) or by water taxi Fteri water taxi from the port of Zola (20€ per person, remember to book). A pebble beach surrounded by white cliffs that flow into turquoise water. Uncrowded, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Kefalonia (Kefalonia).
Bonus for those who are out of ideas…
Several pretty beaches between Skala and Poros : Kako Lagadi beach located below the road and accessible on foot by a small path, Limenia beach and its rocks that fell out of nowhere.
Between Sami and Agia Effimiathe Nici and Agia Paraskevi beaches are visible from the roadside, again pebble beaches with translucent waters.
Or the beaches FilledAlaties, AtherasKoroni, Agia Kiriaki, Lourdata, KalamakiLimena …
You will have understood it, to test and take full advantage of the beaches of this beautiful island of Kefalonia (Kefalonia), you would need several weeks!
